Bye Bye Planet Pluto
Examines the work of several renowned astronomers, including NASA’s Alan Stern, Minor Planet Center Director Brian Marsden, and Kuiper Belt pioneers David Jewitt and Jane Luu. Gives the viewer awareness of the vast array of solar system bodies that science have discovered in recent years. Describes the painstaking process by which Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto and provides rich insight into the discoveries and deliberations which resulted in Pluto’s demotion to minor planet status. Uses both high-tech animation and low-tech tabletop props to illustrate solar system structure and aspects of the Kuiper Belt.
