Media > Ordering
Only Level 2 members may borrow media. Borrowing media from DCMP is entirely free, including no postage costs.
Step-by-step Instructions:
| • | On the Media Library page, click the link to "Browse" or the link to "Search." You should review those sections in the "Tour" part of this help for instructions on how to move through the listings in the browse pages, or find media through the search pages. If you are browsing, you will need to move through the topic and subject listings until you reach the list of titles.

| • | Click on the shopping bag next to the title of the media you wish to borrow. You may add up to 5 items at a time.

You can also click on the title and go to the title summary page. This is also the page that will open when you select a title from the "Search" page. Here, too, you would click on the shopping bag to add the item to your check-out.

If you are not already logged in, the application will ask you to do so before you will be taken to the check-out page.
| • | The check-out page is a bit complex. (Plans are underway to develop a simplified option for completing orders one at a time, particularly for clients using screen readers.)
In the top left corner of the page is a textbox with a small calendar icon. Click on the calendar icon to select a date, or type a date into the textbox. When you have changed the date, click on the "Check Availability" button to update the page.
In the top right corner will be a listing of all of the active shipping addresses you have on file. Select the address for this particular order and the page should automatically update.
The bottom half of the page contains a listing of all of the items currently selected for check-out. If multiple formats are available for this item, you will see them listed here. Pay special attention to the note beside each item, as that note will make suggestions or explain issues as your other selections are made on this page.

| • | You can also select a date by clicking on the calendar beside each item (becomes available once an address has been selected). This calendar will have a white background behind each date that this item is available. Selecting a date in this calendar will also set the date in the textbox in the top left corner of the page. Click the calendar icon a second time to hide the calendar from view.

| • | When the item is available for ordering (meaning that both date and address have been selected and this item is in stock), the checkbox beside it will be selectable. Notice that online items are immediately available, since their availability does not depend on either shipping address or dates. Click the checkbox next to the item(s) you wish to include in this order and then click on the "Place Order" button.
| • | You will see a confirmation page listing each item you have ordered and whether the order was placed successfully.

| • | It's good practice to "Clear Pending Orders" by clicking that button when you have completed your check-out. Because there are multiple formats for most titles, and because the program has no way of knowing whether you want to come back and order a different format for the same title (for example, you are ordering the streaming video to preview it for a class, but you are ordering the DVD to be shipped), the program keeps the title in your check-out until you manually remove it.
You can either click the "Clear Pending Orders" on the confirmation page or the check-out page, or you can remove the items one at a time by clicking on the "X" icon to the left of each item on the check-out page.

Additional Actions Possible
| • | Clicking on the title of the media item will return you to the summary page for that title.
| • | You can create a new address by clicking on the link above the listing of shipping addresses that reads "click here to create an address"
| • | Double-clicking on the heading in the calendar (example: "July 2007") will open a quick-navigation window where you can select from the listing of months and years to move through the calendar rapidly.
| • | Clicking on the single arrows in the calendar heading moves the calendar forward or backward one month, while clicking on the double arrows moves the calendar by 3-month increments. |
