Introduction > What's New?
CMP members will find much of the old Web site included in the new site, despite the change in appearance. The most obvious change is reflected in the name change, as the Captioned Media Program became the Described and Captioned Media Program, to encompass the new task of providing media and information for students who are blind or visually impaired in addition to the captioned media and information for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
A few other changes have also occurred...
| 1. | No longer using account numbers for log-in. CMP members will recognize the 20000-01 format of the account number that identified them in the program. These numbers have been replaced with a username/password combination that you can create yourself.
|
| 2. | No longer requiring multiple accounts to accommodate multiple addresses. CMP members who had more than 1 shipping address were required to create a new account for each additional shipping address. Now, you may have as many shipping addresses and phone numbers as you like. During the ordering process, you will simply select the shipping address for that particular order. There is also a tool for merging your multiple accounts into a single account once you have logged in to the new site.
|
| 3. | Editable account information. You will no longer need to contact client services to make changes to your preferences or your address and phone number information. In many cases, even changes to your order can now be made online, as can responses to media.
|
| 4. | With rare exceptions, video is no longer available through the U.S. mail. Media items are now available on DVD and/or are available online as streaming video. Work is underway to also provide a downloadable option.
|
| 5. | Levels of membership. There are now 2 levels of membership in the DCMP.
The first level (Level 1) requires only a log-in username and password. This level does not allow borrowing of media items, but it does allow you to save your preferences on the Web site and create customized catalogs and receive newsletters. (Everyone, registered or not, has access to articles and information.)
The second level (Level 2) requires full registration, including a brief questionnaire to certify you are eligible to use the media items. This level of membership allows you to borrow media free of charge, either by streaming it online or by receiving DVDs through the U.S. mail. |
Note: All CMP members will be required to re-register before borrowing media items.
